As a nurse practitioner, Laura offers general medical care to established patients and specialized lactation care to anyone who seeks it. Lactation clients are not required to be established medical or primary care patients.

Nurse Practitioners (NP) are licensed health care providers who diagnose and manage health problems and offer preventive care to patients. NPs work in many settings, such as medical offices, hospitals, urgent care, and more.

IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) is the highest credential offered for clinical lactation practice. It is distinct from credentials such as CLC or lactation counselor.

Yes! Most patients are covered with little or no out of pocket cost. Please see the costs page for more information.

Situations where a lactation consultation can be helpful include:
-Pain or difficulty with latching or pumping
-Evaluation and management of low milk supply and/or slow infant weight gain related breastfeeding
-Transitioning to breast after hospitalization or NICU stay
-Assessment of milk intake during breastfeeding
Medical management may include diagnosis and management of:
-Tongue tie and other oral restrictions
-Mastitis
-Induced lactation
We also recognize that the transition to parenthood can be difficult and that breastfeeding often occurs with other conditions such as anxiety and depression. We offer management of this conditions as well if needed.
Patients who are planning to or are already breastfeeding and have questions or concerns about medications or a planned procedure are welcome to consult with us on a case by case basis.

We have a primary care waiting list for patients who are established as lactation patients in the practice, including women, babies, and their household family members. To be added to the list, please send a message from the contact page.

Office visits are available in South Portland and Kennebunk. Home visits and telehealth are also available.
There is no travel charge for clients with babies less than 10 days old, within 30 minutes of Biddeford, including Saco, Scarborough, Wells, Sanford, Alfred, Waterboro, Lyman, Dayton, Hollis, Buxton, Gorham, Portland, Cape Elizabeth, Old Orchard Beach, Arundel, Kennebunk, and Kennebunkport.
